About The Role

The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT, located in Itzehoe, offers a cutting-edge research and manufacturing environment of approximately 200 employees and several local partners, featuring a state-of-the-art equipment portfolio, two cleanrooms, and approximately 700 m² of laboratory space. The »Fabrication – Research and Development« department forms the core of the technological implementation of research and development projects in microsystems technology and power electronics. The department is composed of four groups, covering the planning and creation of manufacturing instructions, the execution of MES-controlled cleanroom production, as well as the maintenance and needs-based expansion of semiconductor fabrication facilities. The »Process Development and Manufacturing« group develops and optimizes individual manufacturing processes on industrial semiconductor equipment for the production of micromechanical and power electronic components on Si, glass, and GaN substrates in a cleanroom. This includes continuous monitoring and analysis of process quality and results. For this group, we are seeking an engaged and committed Group Leader. Be part of change You are taking on technical and disciplinary leadership of the group. You are responsible for ensuring the availability of equipment and processes, as well as adequately qualified personnel. You coordinate closely with other functional units within the FAB and Fraunhofer ISIT (e.g. MES, IT, Technical Services, and Facility Management). You plan and optimize the material flow within your area of responsibility, from research and development through to pilot manufacturing. You coordinate the availability of consumables in your area to ensure optimal operational capability and smooth workflows. Across the organization, you represent the group in internal management forums and ensure effective communication with cleanroom partners and ISIT business units. You work closely with the department management and support the planning and renewal of technologies to be provided at ISIT. You identify requirements for optimal manufacturing conditions and actively contribute to budget planning. What you contribute You have a master’s degree in electrical engineering, natural sciences, or a comparable qualification You have proven experience in the management of highly qualified and motivated employees, ideally supported by several years of leadership experience. You possess solid knowledge of semiconductor technologies, particularly in the areas of MEMS and/or power electronic devices, as well as the associated processes and equipment. You contribute strong ideas for the continuous improvement of the group, implement them in coordination with the department management, and assess their effectiveness. You are able to motivate employees to achieve ambitious goals and show a willingness to familiarize yourself with organization-specific topics. You are characterized by strong communication, cooperation, and teamwork skills, as well as a committed, responsible, and independent working style. You have excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken. The position is initially a two-year fixed-term position. However, we are interested in a long-term collaboration.
