About The Role

Function The internship takes place in the Grid Development department, within the Power System Planning (PSP) team. The scope of the project is to develop a tool and perform analyses that, for a given network topology and based on load flow results prior to optimization: Identify the optimal shape of the penalty cost function (best combination of breakpoints and slopes) to minimize constraint violations after optimization. Determine the optimal scaling factor for non-linear soft constraints (e.g. branch loading limits) in order to improve convergence time. The project focuses on the optimization of a Security-Constrained DC Optimal Power Flow / Unit Commitment problem using a piecewise linear penalty function. Your Profile Education: Master’s degree – Civil Engineer Field of study: Power systems / Energy engineering Technical skills: Python scripting, optimization, mathematical modelling, power system analysis Soft skills: Structured problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, adaptability Languages: French and/or Dutch and/or English Offer A technically challenging internship in a leading energy company Hands-on experience in grid planning, congestion management and optimization Professional guidance by an experienced internship supervisor Period : Summer period Duration : 4 to 8 weeks Driving licence : Not required Location Quai Léon Monnoyer 3, 1000 Brussels
