Principal Software Engineer (C++ / Python / AI Systems)

About the Role Hella Gutmann is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Data Engineer / Principal Software Engineer to join our India Software Development Centre. This role is ideal for a highly skilled technologist with ~15 years of software engineering experience, strong expertise in C++, Python, and a passion for building intelligent, AI-driven data platforms - preferably within the automotive domain. You will play a key role in designing and implementing scalable data and AI systems that power next-generation vehicle diagnostics, telematics, and service solutions, with a focus on Agentic AI systems, automation, and intelligent decision-making frameworks. Key Responsibilities System Design Engineering Design and implement high-performance, scalable data pipelines and platforms using C++ and Python. Architect solutions for processing large-scale automotive data (vehicle diagnostics, telemetry, IoT streams). Ensure performance, reliability, and maintainability of distributed systems. Data Engineering Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, real-time streaming systems, and data lakes. Work with structured and unstructured datasets from automotive systems. Ensure data governance, quality, and availability. Collaboration Leadership Lead technical design discussions and mentor senior/junior engineers. Collaborate with global teams across Germany and other locations. Drive engineering best practices, code quality, and innovation. Translate business needs into technical solutions aligned with automotive standards.
