Role Objective To monitor health and safety standards, assess risks, and design strategies to minimize potential hazards at the site, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety guidelines and statutory requirements. Advise on safety topics and conduct risk assessments regularly. Implement and enforce preventive measures to create a safe workplace. Prevent work-related accidents or illnesses that could cause physical or psychological harm. Minimize losses related to manpower, machinery, and materials. Act as Management Representative (MR) for all safety audits and manage site-level compliance. Avoid employee litigation through proactive safety measures. Performance Metrics (KRA/KPIs) Safety training completion rates. Near-miss reporting rates. Safety audit compliance rates. Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR). Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) or Injury Severity Rate. Internal Interactions Production, Maintenance, QC, Logistics: Regular coordination for safety compliance. External Interactions Fire Safety Department & Vendors: For fire safety equipment and compliance. Auditors: ISO 14000, OSHA, ISO 18000 certifications and audits. Experience Minimum 7–10 years in HSE function within the chemical industry, preferably polymer/engineering plastics. Qualifications BE in a relevant discipline. ADIS/PDIS or Safety Management certifications from reputed institutions. Required Exposure Hazard identification and risk assessment. Compliance with safety audits. Regular training for staff and workers. Workplace hygiene management. Waste classification and disposal, waste management. Error-proofing and workplace inspections. Policy implementation aligned with legal and mandatory requirements. Incident investigation and reporting. Skills & Competencies Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to manage emergency situations and guide employees during crises. Consulting with medical professionals on health-related issues. Monitoring and improving site safety performance. Knowledge Required: 8D reporting, DFMEA, CAPA, Six Sigma, GMP. Desired: ISO standards, OSHA compliance, SOPs, 5S, industry best practices in HSE.
