About The Role

Job Summary

This position will administer and manage the budget, financial operations, and other business activities for the Fulton School of Liberal Arts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the unit.

Support budget development process and forecasting while monitoring accounts and expenses for the State of Maryland, SU Foundation, and externally funded accounts. This includes reporting, budget analysis, developing projections, strategic planning, auditing, and reconciliation.

Authority and Accountability

This position reports directly to the Dean of the Fulton School of Liberal Arts. The Business Manager will have financial oversight and direct budgetary responsibility and authority with the Dean.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business, finance, accounting, management, or a business-related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two years of experience in budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, project management, and personnel.

Must be detail and data oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral/written communication skills. Must be flexible and possess ability to successfully handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, independently, and in a team-oriented environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams) is required.

Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA. No visa sponsorship is offered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or university system experience (specifically USM) supporting dean-level, academic unit, or multi-unit administration is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience working with the State of Maryland.
  • Knowledge of state procurement policies and procedures.
  • Experience in Workday Enterprise Management system.
  • Ability to learn and work with data analytic platforms.

Additional Job Information

The position is a full-time, exempt state role with comprehensive benefits.
