Job Overview Lead the engineering function for Panel & Relay Solutions Sub Vertical in China, driving innovation, product development, manufacturing excellence, and technical innovation to support the "Grow in China" initiative. This role serves as the critical technical bridge between global engineering teams and local commercial functions (Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Business Development), ensuring products meet Chinese market requirements while maintaining global standards. Job Requirements Technical Leadership & Product Development (40%) Lead design, development, and optimization of AC and DC contactor products for Chinese market applications Drive product localization strategies balancing cost, performance, and compliance with Chinese standards (GB, CCC certification) Establish and maintain technical roadmaps aligned with global product strategy and local market needs Oversee prototype development, validation testing, and product qualification processes Ensure compliance with safety standards (IEC 60947, UL, CCC) and environmental regulations (RoHS, REACH) Team Leadership & Development (25%) Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Product Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration Conduct performance management, talent development, and succession planning Establish engineering best practices and standardized development processes Manufacturing & Operations Excellence (20%) Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and supplier collaboration Support production ramp-up, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement corrective actions Lead APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and DFMEA activities Global & Cross-Functional Collaboration (15%) Act as technical liaison between China operations and global engineering centers Partner with Product Managers to translate market requirements into engineering specifications Support Sales and Business Development with technical presentations, customer engagements, and application engineering Collaborate with Marketing on product positioning, competitive analysis, and go-to-market strategies Participate in global engineering councils and knowledge-sharing forums What your background should look like Education & Core Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field 8+ years of experience in electrical components or power distribution equipment 3+ years of hands-on experience with AC and/or DC contactors (design, testing, or application engineering) 5+ years of people management experience leading engineering teams Essential Technical Skills Working knowledge of contactor design principles (magnetic circuits, contact materials, etc.) Understanding of key electrical standards (IEC 60947, GB 14048, or UL 508) Proficiency in basic CAD software and electrical simulation tools Critical Soft Skills & Leadership Cross-functional collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively across departments (Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality) and influence without direct authority Cross-cultural communication: Excellent communication skills in both Mandarin and English, with demonstrated ability to bridge cultural differences between global and local teams Matrix organization experience: Success working in complex organizational structures with multiple stakeholders across different countries and time zones Adaptability: Ability to balance global standards with local market requirements and navigate ambiguous situations Competencies SET : Strategy, Execution, Talent (for managers)
