Division R&D Department Power train Design Level EX Functional Area Power train Vertical 1 Job Title Specialist 2 Reporting Functional reporting to : LX 3 Background i) Educational Qualification Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering. Minimum 60 % marks Should have been consistent & secured good percentage throughout academics (SSC, HSC (if appeared) etc) ii) Experience Minimum: Year(s) 4 Maximum: Year(s) 7 iii) Age Limit Minimum: Year(s) Maximum: Year(s) 4 Job Role & Responsibilities Role: Support end‑to‑end design, detailing, and validation of mechanical transmission components. Perform calculations related to: Gear ratios & gear train layout Gear macro & micro geometry Shaft and bearing sizing Clutch torque capacity and wear analysis Chain tension, sprocket geometry, and drive efficiency Develop and optimize clutch systems, including friction plate design, actuation mechanism, pressure plate geometry, and durability evaluation. Design and refine gear shifting mechanisms (shift forks, selector drum, shift shaft, detent mechanism). Design and validate drive chain and sprocket systems, including link selection, pitch, sprocket tooth profile, alignment, wear patterns, and noise/efficiency considerations. Review CAE, CFD, NVH, and durability analysis results and provide design improvement inputs. Support component and system‑level testing: gearbox endurance, clutch testing, chain–sprocket fatigue, and shifting mechanism reliability tests. Participate in root‑cause analysis for issues related to gears, clutches, chain drives, and shifting systems. Coordinate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure DFM/DFA/DFS compliance, material selection, and process feasibility. Support prototype builds, validation activities, and engineering documentation including DFMEA, DRBFM, test reports, and drawing releases. Technical/ Functional: Strong understanding of automotive drivetrain and mechanical transmission fundamentals. Proficiency in Romax and familiarity with simulation tools like Kisssoft, ADAMS, ANSYS. Hands-on experience in designing: Gears, shafts, bearings Clutch systems (friction plates, hub, pressure plate, actuation) Gear shifting mechanisms (selector drum, shift forks, shift shaft, detent systems) Drive chain and sprocket systems (pitch selection, sprocket design, lubrication flow, chain tensioning) Differentials, driveshafts, and associated components Knowledge of drivetrain calculations including tractive effort, gear sizing, chain drive efficiency, and sprocket load distribution. Understanding of manufacturing processes: forging, machining, hobbing, shaping, honing, grinding, spline rolling, heat treatment, etc. Familiarity with gear quality standards and material selection. Exposure to NVH, durability testing, and validation result interpretation for transmission, clutch, and chain systems. Knowledge of AMT fundamentals is an added advantage. 5 Competency Requirements Behavioral Clear communication for cross‑functional technical discussions. Strong analytical and problem‑solving approach. Ability to handle multiple engineering tasks in a dynamic environment. Team-oriented mindset with willingness to support hands‑on testing and build activities.
