About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize robust data models that drive enterprise-level analytics. In this role, you will take ownership of end-to-end data architecture and implement stringent row- and column-level data access controls to ensure data security and compliance. Leveraging SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), you will orchestrate seamless data integration, deliver high-performance virtual models, and enable secure, self-service reporting across the organization. Note: This position is in-person and based in Gainesville, Florida . Depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate, the position may be filled at a lower classification. This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies, and an eligibility list may be established for future openings. FLSA Exemption Status Exempt Summary Highly experienced and skilled leader who will focus on designing and building data systems that are optimized for data analysis, ensuring that data is readily accessible, clean, and structured in a way that facilitates insightful business intelligence through analytics tools; essentially, to prepare and manage data for analysis. As part of the Budget, Finance, and Accounting team, this role will be instrumental in data-driven decision-making, connecting data across silos, and enhancing the experience of our customers. This leader will contribute their deep expertise in supporting strategic business initiatives through creating and maintaining databases, warehouses, etc. Examples of Work Essential Functions: Designs/ Develops large and complex data sets to support analysis of a wide array of challenging problems using different analytical and statistical approaches. Designs data sets, forecasting, collaborating with data analysts, maintaining databases, etc. Be familiar with achieving optimal data quality from structured and unstructured data. Applies technical expertise in data design, query, and reporting, to facilitate the identification of trends and patterns that can inform decision-making. Collaborates closely with analysts in Finance, Customer Service, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to support actionable insights. Builds sophisticated reporting and analytical tools that empower stakeholders to make data-driven decisions. Presents findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior leadership, in a clear and concise manner. Examples of Work (continued) Non-Essential Functions: Required to respond in emergency conditions. Performs other duties as assigned. May act in absence of supervisor. May supervise others. This position may include a hybrid work schedule, once probation is completed and agreed to with your manager. Education A quantitative Bachelor’s degree with a strong preference for candidates holding advanced degree(s) in computer science, software engineering, finance, social science, math, statistics, etc. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if it meets the requirements of the department. Experience Seven (7) years of industry experience in Data Science, Analytics, IT, Accounting, related field or equivalent role. Proficiency in developing/ documenting data architecture, coding, machine learning, and ETL/ETL processes. Be well-versed in database tools and data warehouse solutions. Self-starter thrives in ambiguity and has an investigator mindset of wanting to get to the bottom of problems. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a keen attention to detail. An agile, growth-minded approach, demonstrated through a history of driving projects from ideation to impact. Ability to use advanced tools such as Power BI, Excel, Python, R, Tableau, etc. Ability to implement data quality checks and validation procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data used for analytics. Skilled in using data warehousing tools, data integration tools, and data transformation languages like SQL and potentially Python or R. Skilled at working closely with data analysts and data scientists to understand their analytical requirements and tailor data pipelines accordingly. Skills in designing data models using techniques like normalization, denormalization, and dimensional modeling. Ability in building and maintaining the infrastructure and tools needed for data analysis.
