Shape the success of European space programmes Would you like to work at the heart of Europe’s space activities, supporting projects at one of ESA’s key centres? We are looking for an experienced Procurement / Project Controller to join our team at ESOC in Darmstadt . In this role, you will work closely with project managers, technical teams, procurement specialists and ESA stakeholders to ensure that projects are effectively planned, controlled and delivered. You will have a broad view of project performance. From costs, resources and schedules to risks, contracts and technical progress , helping project teams maintain full visibility and make well-informed decisions. What you will do As Procurement / Project Controller, you will contribute to the successful management of ESA industrial and internal activities, ensuring that projects remain aligned with approved budgets, contractual requirements and established ESA processes. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing and maintaining project cost-at-completion forecasts , budgets and financial information. Supporting ESA procurement activities , including procurement documentation and related processes. Contributing to the preparation and maintenance of Project Management Plans . Ensuring consistency between Work Breakdown Structures, project schedules, resource planning and budgets . Monitoring project performance and implementing appropriate project control procedures to provide clear visibility of cost, schedule, resources, risks and progress. Maintaining project-related documentation within the Directorate's document management environment. Identifying potential issues, deviations and problem areas and supporting the definition of corrective actions and re-planning . Preparing management information and reports covering manpower, cost, schedule, industrial return, risk and technical progress . Supporting the annual ESA Controlling Work Plan and financial asset management activities. Participating in Tender Evaluation Boards (TEBs) and other relevant procurement and project activities. Supporting contract administration activities, including shopping carts, contracts and Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs). Working closely with stakeholders across ESA functions and directorates, including OPS, TEC, SCI, EOP, HRE and S2P . Contributing to meetings, reviews and activity assessments, providing clear and structured project-control information. What you bring We are looking for a structured and proactive professional who can combine strong project-control skills with excellent stakeholder management . Essential University degree or equivalent qualification. Professional experience in Project Controlling, Project Management, Programme Controlling or a closely related discipline . Experience working within a European or public-sector organisation is strongly preferred. Good understanding of project-control disciplines, particularly cost, schedule, resources, risk and reporting . Experience working with complex projects and multiple stakeholders. Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and negotiation abilities. Ability to work independently, take initiative and make sound judgements. Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure. Fluent English , both written and spoken. A strong advantage Experience in the aerospace or space sector and familiarity with ESA processes, procurement and financial regulations would be highly valued. Knowledge of tools such as the following would also be an advantage: MS Office ESA-p Power BI / Data Lake EROS ESAstar PFMS Planisware ERiS CMYP Microsoft Teams / Webex Don't worry if you don't have experience with every tool listed. What matters most is your project-control expertise, ability to learn quickly and confidence working in complex organisational environments .
