Specialist, Value Chain Optimization (IGPA Department)
ADNOC · Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
About The Role
JOB PURPOSE Identify, evaluate and quantify optimisation opportunities across the ADNOC Gas value chain to maximise portfolio value, throughput, flexibility and capital efficiency. Conduct portfolio-level system analysis and value chain assessments and translate the results into prioritised, decision-ready recommendations that avoid or defer unnecessary capital expenditure and unlock incremental value. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Conduct portfolio-level value chain assessments across gas and NGL systems – trains, pipelines, compression, processing and evacuation infrastructure. • Perform integrated system analysis to identify bottlenecks, spare capacity, flexibility and points of value leakage. • Screen proposed capital projects to test whether existing infrastructure can meet the requirement, thereby avoiding, deferring or reducing CAPEX. Quantify the value of optimisation, debottlenecking and asset stretch opportunities – incremental production, revenue and capital avoided. • Prepare high-level economic evaluations (CAPEX, NPV, IRR, sensitivities) to support prioritisation. • Maintain the pipeline of identified optimisation and growth opportunities with status, value, maturity and next steps. • Ensure alignment with ADNOC Upstream, DM&T and other Group entities to capture cross-entity synergies. • Track realisation of value from implemented initiatives and conduct lookback reviews. Holding the line between portfolio-level analysis and detailed engineering – credible enough to challenge assumptions, disciplined enough not to cross into Engineering’s scope. • Making the case against a proposed capital project when a sponsoring function wants it built. • Quantifying benefits robustly enough to survive Investment Committee and value assurance scrutiny. • Securing technical validation and data from Engineering and Operations without direct authority. • Proving value early in a newly formed department. •Provide live, credible optimisation opportunity pipeline that leadership acts on. • Provide Recommendations that Engineering accepts as technically sound and Finance accepts as economically robust. • Esnure Value realisation is tracked and evidenced after implementation, not just claimed at proposal stage. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree in Engineering wiht Around 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 in process or systems optimisation, asset optimisation, value chain planning or technical economics in oil and gas, LNG or petrochemicals. Individual contributor role. SYSTEM & VALUE CHAIN OPTIMIZATION – demonstrated identification and quantification of debottlenecking, capacity unlock or CAPEX avoidance opportunities, with value verified after the fact. GAS PROCESSING & SYSTEM DEPTH – strong understanding of gas processing, NGL fractionation, compression, pipeline hydraulics and LNG systems at portfolio and system level. ECONOMIC EVALUATION – CAPEX, NPV, IRR and sensitivity analysis applied to optimisation and capital screening decisions. OPTIMISATION & SIMULATION FLUENCY – working command of optimisation and simulation concepts and tools, sufficient to direct and challenge detailed studies. TECHNICAL-TO-COMMERCIAL TRANSLATION – proven ability to convert technical analysis into commercial recommendations for senior decision-makers; excellent written and spoken English.
