About The Role
Job Description To provide comprehensive legal advice and support to all of CelcomDigi’s commercial functions (including telecommunications and technology). This role requires the candidate to be level-headed, capable of balancing commercial speed, high-quality legal support with disciplined risk management. Responsibilities Assist in structuring transactions across all business lines. Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and agreements, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and internal policies. Evaluate legal risks and provide strategic guidance to safeguard CelcomDigi’s interests while supporting business objectives. Conduct legal research and analysis, offering well-founded advice and recommending appropriate actions in CelcomDigi’s best interest. Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties, maintaining professionalism and integrity at all times. Respond promptly and professionally to stakeholder requests, delivering sound legal advice that prioritizes CelcomDigi’s interests. Coordinate with external legal counsels as needed and oversee their performance to ensure high-quality legal services. Ensure legal advice remains current by staying informed of regulatory changes and incorporating updates into guidance provided. Participate in meetings, negotiations, and discussions with internal and external parties, offering legal insights and preparing meeting minutes as required. Keep the Head of Section (HOS) or Head of Department (HOD) informed of any matters with significant impact on CelcomDigi or its divisions. Support the HOS/HOD in special projects and corporate initiatives across the CelcomDigi group of companies. Conduct legal awareness sessions for business units on contract compliance and related legal matters. Provide general legal support to the HOS/HOD on all matters pertaining to the Legal Department, as assigned. Requirements Skills/Competencies Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments within the telecommunications and other industry which the Group is involved in to ensure that all legal guidance remains current, accurate, and aligned with industry standards. Educate business units on contract compliance and related legal matters through targeted awareness initiatives, as needed. Provide comprehensive support to the HOS/HOD on all matters pertaining to the Legal Division, including tasks and responsibilities assigned on an ad hoc basis. Strong strategic/critical thinking and legal foresight Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, including the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and the Cyber Security Act 2024 Independent, proactive and adaptable in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Strong drafting, research and analytical skills Excellent time and task management High sense of responsibility and ownership Technical & Behavioural Competencies Strong strategic/critical thinking and legal foresight. Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools. Level-headedness Independent, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Strong drafting, research, and analytical skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent time and task management. High sense of responsibility and ownership. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree of Law/LLB At least 8 -12 years post qualification experience with exposure to telecommunications or technology sector an added advantage Admitted as advocate & solicitor of the High Court of Malaya
