About The Role
The Part-Time PM Hotel Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, providing attentive and friendly service to hotel guests, and maintaining a clean, organized bar during evening and night shifts. The role supports the hotel’s food and beverage operation and helps create a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable atmosphere.
Key responsibilities
- Greet guests promptly and warmly, creating a welcoming bar environment.
- Prepare and serve a full range of cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages according to hotel recipes and standards.
- Take guest drink and food orders accurately, enter orders into the POS system, and ensure timely delivery.
- Check identification to verify legal drinking age and follow all alcohol service laws and hotel policies.
- Engage with guests, make recommendations, explain drink and menu items, and upsell premium products when appropriate.
- Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption, refusing service when necessary and alerting management to potential issues.
- Handle all payment transactions, including posting to rooms, processing cash and card payments, and balancing the cash drawer at end of shift.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including counters, equipment, glassware, and storage.
- Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and bar supplies before, during, and after the shift.
- Follow opening, shift-change, and closing side work procedures for the bar.
- Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation standards, including proper handling of food and glassware.
- Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and front desk to coordinate guest service.
- Support hotel events or banquets as needed, including setting up and operating portable bars.
Qualifications
- Previous bartending experience in a hotel, restaurant, or bar preferred.
- Knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine.
- Required local certifications (e.g., responsible alcohol service, food handler) as applicable.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, multitask, and stay calm under pressure.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills; experience with POS systems preferred.
- Must meet the minimum legal age to serve alcohol in Louisiana.
Schedule and work conditions
- Part-time evening and night shifts.
- Availability on weekends and holidays.
- Long periods of standing and walking; frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25–40 lbs (cases, kegs, boxes).
- Work in a busy, guest-facing environment with exposure to noise.
