Objectives of the Position The purpose of this role is to ensure full compliance with international trade regulations and to optimize the use of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) across global operations. Within Preferential Management, the role is critical to safeguarding BASF against financial and reputational risks by ensuring the accurate determination and application of preferential origin in accordance with national customs laws. The position supports the systematic determination of preferential origin through the collection and validation of supplier declarations (long-term and single use), as well as the analysis of key data such as product compositions (BOMs) and pricing structures. This enables the accurate issuance of Free Trade Certificates and Origin Declarations for both customer and intercompany transactions. M ain Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities Responsible to coordinate and conduct analysis of all products subject to the Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and prepare and maintain data and documentation required by these FTAs. Collaborate, coordinate and recommend best practices with BU senior leadership, Customs Country Experts as well as the Management Team in Customs to ensure FTA processes are optimized and supported in the global KPI report. Ability to work flexibly and collaborate with stakeholders across different time zones. Participate in and organize the Preference Management regular meetings and align cost and KPI measures Responsible for the solicitation of data and documentation, such as FTA certificates and long-term supplier agreements, from BASF suppliers to obtain cost avoidance status for the various BU’s and BASF legal entities. Responsible for communication with BASF customers and senior leaders within the BASF business units to ensure that FTA responses and requirements are met Responsible for assisting with additional duty management opportunities for the Customs organization, both regionally and globally Responsible for the coordination and support of the implementation of process and system changes related to Free Trade Agreements in collaboration with IT and process owners Responsible for the operational implementation of applicable customs authorizations and regulatory requirements related to Free Trade Agreements Prepare, maintain, and update operational reports by tracking FTA-related activities, including the number of certificates issued, supplier declarations processed, and transactions by customer, product, and legal entity; ensure accurate data recording and timely updates to support daily operational monitoring and control. Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Working experience Experience in the chemical industry and/or a Chemical Engineering background would be an advantage. 3-5 Years of professional experience in Preferential Origin determination and Free Trade Agreements Technical Skills (mandatory): Experience in Custo ms and/or Foreign Trade law Ability to work flexibly and collaborate with stakeholders across different time zones. Strong technical knowledge of HS tariff classification, rules of origin, and customs valuation principles Proficiency in data management and reporting, including the use of Excel or similar tools to track and maintain trade compliance and operational data Understand BASF Organization and Culture Know how on Products and Markets Strong communication and argumentation skills Analytical thinking Structured work organization Strong teamwork competence Experience in project management is desirable Good knowledge of the SAP master data systems and SAP GTS Strong service and customer orientation Ability to balance service orientation with compliance requirements BASF Asia-Pacific Service Centre was established in 2005.
