About The Role

Role: Module Lead, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics and Bodyworks Location: IBC, Bangalore Reporting to: Head- Manufacturing Engineering Team Name: Manufacturing Engineering About the Team and the Role: As a Lead - Module Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Module Leads and serving as the primary Manufacturing Engineering (ME) point of contact for a specific module (e.g.Plastic, Bodyworks). Your role will involve managing timelines, capital expenditure plans, 4M planning (Man, Machine, Material, Method), and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) planning. Responsibilities: Strategic Collaboration & Problem Solving: Collaborate with other Module Leads and Subject Matter Experts to identify and implement optimal solutions for the organization. Represent the ME team in cross-functional discussions, providing updates and coordinating issue resolution related to sustenance, cycle time improvements, and proof of concept. Participate in design phase brainstorming to achieve the most optimal design, considering functional constraints, cost, supply chain, quality, and manufacturability. Bring a generalist Manufacturing Engineering perspective to design, remaining agnostic to specific processes. Involve yourself in benchmarking activities to ensure competitive and innovative solutions. Ideation stage: In this phase you are ideating along with the product engineer, a strong collaboration between the two MLs can do wonders in terms of innovation. Collaborate with other MLs in the swimlane to ideate on manufacturing aspects of the components to meet the requirements Co own cost, performance, safety, manufacturability on a module level by giving solutions from manufacturing engineering side Involve yourself in benchmarking activities Make process choices for the design Detailed Design stage: In this phase you are the bridge between ME and Product Engineering. Doing a lot of trade off decisions Own process for all the components of the module Work with Component ME to evolve designs and processes to meet product needs Be the voice of Product Engineering to ME and vice-a-versa Work with Product Engineering ML and PO define process expectation and spec sheet(SOR) for each component e.g., capacity, takt, testing, process standards, special requirements, tolerance, flatness, porosity, reporting (parameters to track, format, frequency Rationalise need for special requirements like IIoT, traceability, automation, use of technology in supplier component lines Along with Product Engineering (PE) ML broker conversations between Component designers and ME Solve for bottleneck by contributing in trade-offs between design requirements and ME requirements across various components Development stage: In this phase you are working more with Component ME to ensure all the product expectations are translating well in process capability and controls. This is where your knowledge of functionality of the product comes into picture. Work with component ME in ensuring FMEAs Work with Component ME to deliver these process expectations which suits the product requirements Ideate with them to navigate challenges in this phase to meet product/program needs Ensure all CTQs are getting translated in the process controls. Ensure adequacy of the process for the product requirements Ensure adequate incoming, in process and eol checks for parts are getting established Ensure spc is established of all the ctq Review and approve all process documents - The closure of deviations is a responsibility of relevant ME working on the part. Define corner cases to be verified for in process based on your understanding of process and product Sustenance stage: Sustenance: Own up bug resolutions and implementation of process controls and horizontal deployment. Justify investments if required. Identify opportunities on the design side to reduce part cost, improve quality, simplify process, increase capacity, reduce scrap. Timelines, Risk management, cost management and investment decision making accordingly on process, capex, redundancy, investments. Sustenance and Overall Manufacturing Engineering Expertise: Maintain a broad and deep understanding of all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering (Plastic Injection Moulding process, Tooling, MFS etc) demonstrating a "jack of all trades" capability in the field. Experience and Qualifications: Bachelor degree in engineering in any discipline, 5 to 9 years of working experience in industries, experience in manufacturing processes, experience in project management & experience in handling programs technically in general Must have Competencies: Domain skills: Ability to develop & foster strong stakeholder relationships Ability to identify potential risks & plan to mitigate them Hands on experience in working with multiple CFT Should have multiple process knowledge Experience in project management New product development Deep knowledge in at least one area and general processes knowledge APQP First principles understanding of manufacturing principles, quality systems, testing systems Demonstrated willingness to learn about multiple processes beyond expertise Ability to understand and compute business case Good to have Competencies: APQP, Problem solving tools Want to know more?
