About The Role
Job Description Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a Painter to support facility maintenance operations at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut. In this skilled trades role, you will repair drywall, prepare surfaces, sand, prime, and paint walls, ceilings, and other campus areas to maintain a professional and welcoming environment. This position requires hands-on experience with mudding, taping, sanding, rolling, and finishing work, along with the ability to move equipment throughout campus buildings and work on multiple floors. You will interact regularly with students, faculty, staff, and visitors while completing assigned projects across the university. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM . Compensation Data COMPENSATION: The Hourly rate for this position is $20.00 to $22.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. For jobs in San Francisco, this includes the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. Job Responsibilities Patch, repair, and finish drywall and sheetrock surfaces. Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, cleaning, mudding, and priming. Apply paint, stains, and coatings using rollers, brushes, and other painting tools. Complete assigned painting and repair projects throughout campus buildings and facilities. Match paint colors and maintain existing finishes when needed. Transport painting equipment, supplies, and materials between work locations, including upper floors and stairways. Set up and safely use ladders and other access equipment as required. Perform touch-up painting and cosmetic repairs to maintain the appearance of classrooms, offices, residence halls, and common areas. Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety procedures. Interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and visitors while working in occupied buildings. Properly handle, store, and dispose of paint and related materials according to safety requirements. Qualifications Required Previous professional painting experience in commercial, institutional, residential, or facilities maintenance environments. Working knowledge of drywall repair, sheetrock finishing, mudding, taping, sanding, priming, and painting techniques. Experience using painting tools and equipment including rollers, brushes, sanders, ladders, and related materials. Ability to work independently and complete daily assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, climb stairs, and stand or walk for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Ability to work safely around students, faculty, staff, and visitors in an active university environment. Preferred Experience painting in higher education, healthcare, hospitality, commercial buildings, or other large facilities. Experience with wall texturing, ceiling repairs, and finishing work. Knowledge of paint matching, finishing techniques, and surface preparation best practices. Familiarity with safety procedures related to paints, coatings, and construction materials.
