Associate Director, Research & Clinical Lab service Sourcing

Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically driven sourcing professional to lead strategic sourcing activities across Research and Clinical Laboratory Services. This role will partner closely with Research Biologics and Chemistry team,Clinical Biomarker Sciences, Clinical Operations, and External Partners to develop and execute sourcing strategies that support global clinical programs. The successful candidate will possess a strong scientific background, deep understanding of clinical laboratory services and research outsourcing, strong project management capability, and knowledge of both China and global supplier markets. The candidate must be able to translate scientific and operational requirements into effective sourcing strategies that deliver quality, speed, innovation, and value. Key Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Category Management Develop and implement sourcing strategies for Research and Clinical Laboratory Services, including: Central Laboratory Services Biomarker Testing Research Services - Chemistry service and Biologics related service. Conduct supplier market intelligence and competitive assessments across China, North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Evaluate supplier capabilities, technologies, capacity, quality systems, and operational performance. Drive supplier selection, RFP/RFQ processes, negotiations, contracting, and supplier governance. Establish preferred supplier frameworks and category strategies to optimize cost, quality, risk, and timelines. Stakeholder Partnership Collaborate with scientific, clinical, and operational stakeholders to understand study requirements and translate business needs into sourcing solutions. Serve as a trusted advisor for laboratory outsourcing strategy and supplier engagement. Facilitate cross-functional decision making among Clinical Operations, Biomarker, Clinical Development, Procurement, Legal, and Finance teams. Supplier & Vendor Management Build and maintain strategic relationships with global and regional laboratory service providers. Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, governance meetings, and business reviews. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation, risk mitigation, and operational excellence. Support supplier escalation management and issue resolution. Project Management Lead sourcing/cost optimization projects from initiation through implementation. Develop project plans, timelines, risk mitigation strategies, and stakeholder communication plans. Manage multiple complex sourcing initiatives simultaneously while ensuring timely execution and delivery. Drive alignment and decision making across geographically dispersed teams. Market Intelligence & Innovation Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, laboratory service models, and supplier landscape developments. Provide recommendations regarding internal versus external testing strategies and future sourcing opportunities. Evaluate innovative partnership models, operational efficiencies, and outsourcing best practices. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree or above in Chemistry,Biology or Life Sciences related. Master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred. Experience 5-10+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, outsourcing management, Clinical operation, laboratory operations, or related functions within: Biotech Company Pharmaceutical CRO Central Laboratory Diagnostics industries Experience managing laboratory service providers and research vendors is strongly preferred. Technical & Business Skills Strong understanding of: Clinical development processes Biomarker testing Central laboratory services Clinical trial operations Knowledge of China and global laboratory service markets. Strong analytical, commercial, negotiation, and contract management skills. Experience conducting supplier assessments and market analysis. Project Management Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex projects and manage multiple priorities. Strong organizational and execution skills. Experience leading cross-functional initiatives in a global environment. Communication Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with scientific, operational, and executive stakeholders. Strong presentation and stakeholder management capability. Preferred Qualifications Overseas study experience (Bachelor's, Master's, Ph.D., or exchange program). Experience working within multinational pharmaceutical or biotechnology organizations. Professional procurement certifications (CPSM, CIPS, PMP, etc.) are a plus. Exposure to global supplier management and cross-cultural collaboration.
