Overview

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting for a Cardiac Catheterization Lab Technologist (Cath Lab Technician) to support the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center, located at 6900 North Pecos Road, North Las Vegas, NV 89086. The Cath Lab Technician will report to the Cath Lab Nurse Manager and function as full members of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Team. They may be reassigned to other areas in Cardiology, with various shifts required for the position, and accept temporary reassignment/floating to areas outside Cardiology if a greater need is deemed, as determined by VA leaders, managers, and/or supervisors. The majority of positions will be PRN, however full-time roles are anticipated. Responsibilities

Provides technical assistance to the Cardiologist during all procedures occurring in the Cath lab including LHC, RHC, PTCA's, Stent deployment, IABP Atherectomies, Percusuage, pericardialcentisis, biopsies, temporary pacemakers, EP studies, permanent pacemaker, and ICD placement

Monitors the progression of procedures requiring independent judgment in order to provide specific instrument and or catheters, as they are needed in anticipation of request

Assist the unit manager improving technical learning for new employees, fellows, and students

Provides accurate monitoring and recording of intravascular pressures and electro cardiographer tracings, requiring knowledge of normal/ abnormal waveforms and cardiac rhythms

Must distinguish electrical artifact from normal/ abnormal pressures and EKG patterns

Operates digital radiographic computer systems, assists physician in procedure by performing scrub person duties injection of contrast, and/or panning during the procedure

Has expertise in data acquisition, data storage and rearrangement, data retrieval, independent operation of programs used to analyze a variety of cardiac functions (i.e., Coronary Anatomy, coronary flow reserve, road mapping, LV function and EF Calculation)

Preps patients prior to procedures while assisting with patient teaching pre/intra/post procedures

Responsible for completion of patient records to include Cath Report and Nurses Notes

Scrub, circulate, and monitor advanced procedures (including electrophysiological) to include rotoblation, intravascular ultrasound, RADI or wave-wire, Angio jet, filter wires, myocardial biopsies EPS, permanent pacemaker insertions, AICD insertions, and biventricular pacemaker insertion

Advanced knowledge of equipment, medications, and supplies used in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and the ability to set-up, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot this equipment

Knowledge and understanding of wave forms from the great vessels and all chambers of the heart including the ability to recognize and distinguish normal from abnormal, artifact from abnormality, and forewarn the physician of an impending life-threatening situation

Knowledge of quality control and performance improvement indicators for the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and ability to prepare and analyze quality control of test results

Knowledge of the more complex examination and treatment procedures and techniques in order to provide training and supervision in these procedures, to evaluate and initiate performance improvement projects, and to write policies, procedures, and protocols, that pertain to the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees at varying grade levels

Ability to provide, or provide for, staff development and training

Qualifications

  • Registered RVT by ARDMS
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • At least one (1) year of direct patient care experience within the field within the last three (3) years

All candidates must be able to

Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift

Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist

Lift up to 20 lbs

Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance

Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
