About The Role

Duties

Information Technology Officer (Infrastructure) will be mainly responsible for

(a) managing infrastructure including Microsoft platforms, databases, web platforms, virtualisation, containerisation, Linux systems, Storage Area Networks (SAN)/ Network Attached Storage (NAS), email systems, and other common applications;

(b) providing helpdesk and hotline support ensuring reliable in-house IT services for end users;

(c) delivering technical advices to support evolving business requirements and operational needs;

(d) engaging and collaborating with stakeholders to align IT solutions with the business objectives; and

(e) performing technical and administrative duties as assigned by management.

Entry Requirements

(a) Candidates [See Note 1] should have –

(i) a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or related discipline from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent;

(ii) met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 2’ [See Note (2)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;

(iii) at least four (4) years relevant post-qualification full-time IT working experience, of which one (1) year must be in a similar post and in a comparable capacity; and

(iv) at least three (3) years’ full-time aggregate experience in two (2) or more of the following areas

  1. Virtualisation – e.g. VMware environment with High Availability, Microsoft Hyper-V;
  2. Containerisation – e.g. Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform;
  3. Microsoft Windows Server – e.g. Active Directory (AD), Group Policy, File Server clusters, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS);
  4. Linux Operating Systems – e.g. Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu;
  5. Database Systems – e.g. MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB; and
  6. Helpdesk Support – including call management in busy, large-scale organisations (e.g. providing hotline support for desktop PCs, laptops, iPhones, printers, IP networks, file servers, email systems serving more than 200 staff members).

(b) Candidates should be customer-oriented and able to perform under pressure, willing to work after office hours and occasionally working on an on-call basis as required.

(c) Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in using the following technologies/ products

  • (i) Web Application Servers – e.g. Apache Tomcat;
  • (ii) Web Servers – e.g. Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), Apache HTTP Server, NGINX (including reverse proxy configuration);
  • (iii) IP Telephony Systems; and
  • (iv) Distributed File/ Storage Systems – e.g. Ceph.

(d) Preference will be given to candidates who are holders of the following certificates or equivalent

  • (i) VMware Certified Professional – VMware vSphere/Cloud Foundation Administrator;
  • (ii) Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration;
  • (iii) Red Hat Certified System Administration (RHCSA);
  • (iv) Windows Server Administrator Associate;
  • (v) MySQL 8.0 Database Administrator;
  • (vi) MariaDB Certified Database Administrator Associate; and
  • (vii) Mongo Certified Associate Database Administrator.

Pay

HK$45,600 - $48,600 per month

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on two-year non-civil service contract (NCSC) terms. Further renewal of contract will be subject to the candidate’s performance and service needs.
