About The Role

Duties

(a) To develop and review the curriculum for the subjects of Chemistry (S4-6) in the Science Education Key Learning Area, and to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Chemistry (S4-6) curriculum;

(b) To plan, organise and conduct in-service professional development programmes for teachers and training courses for laboratory technicians to facilitate the implementation of Science / Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) / Innovation and Technology (I&T) education;

(c) To plan, co-ordinate and develop curriculum resources to enhance the learning and teaching of Science / STEAM / I&T education;

(d) To plan, organise and conduct curriculum support programmes for schools and provide advice on matters related to implementation of Science / STEAM / I&T education (including holistic curriculum planning, pedagogy, assessment, laboratory safety and management, etc.);

(e) To liaise and cooperate with other government departments, tertiary institutions, and relevant organisations in promoting Science / STEAM / I&T education;

(f) To organise and conduct curriculum development projects, such as piloting learning and teaching strategies and conducting case studies in schools, to enhance the implementation of Science / STEAM / I&T education;

(g) To organise and conduct activities and events related to Science / STEAM / I&T education;

(h) To review textbooks and related resource materials; and

(i) To undertake any other duties as assigned.

Entry Requirements

(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree majoring in Chemistry, or equivalent [see Notes (ii) & (iii)];

(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent;

(c) Met the language proficiency requirements of 'Level 2' in the two language papers [Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [see Note (iv)];

(d) A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) [see Note (vi)];

(e) At least 6 years' relevant post-qualification [as specified in (a) and (b)] experience in teaching and/or curriculum development;

(f) Possess sound knowledge and educational experience in the area of Chemistry, Science or Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) education and the local education system;

(g) Possess (i) research experience in Chemistry, education or equivalent area, or (ii) a higher degree (e.g. a Master's / Doctoral degree) related to Chemistry or education, or equivalent preferred; and

(h) May be required to take a written test on the day of selection interview.

Pay

$83,975 per month

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 2.5 years.
