About The Role
Duties
A Customs Officer is mainly deployed on law enforcement activities relating to revenue protection and collection, anti-narcotics, anti-smuggling and intellectual property rights protection. A Customs Officer is subject to the provisions of the Customs and Excise Service Ordinance, required to wear uniform, carry firearms, work irregular hours and may be required to work in an area outside the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Entry Requirements
- Candidates should -
- (a)(i) have Level 2 or equivalent or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent [see Notes (1) & (2)]; or
- (a)(ii) have Level 2 / Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [see Notes (2) & (3)];
- (b) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent [see Note (3)];
- (c) have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test [see Notes (5) & (6)];
- (d) be able to speak fluent Cantonese;
- (e) pass a physical fitness test; and
- (f) pass an eyesight test.
Pay
Disciplined Services (Rank and File) Pay Scale Point 5 (HKD$25,980 per month) to Disciplined Services (Rank and File) Pay Scale Point 16 (HKD$36,995 per month)
Terms of Appointment
New recruits will be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. He/She may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period.
