Description

The Supply Planning Manager is responsible for end‑to‑end supply planning, inventory management, S&OP leadership, and SAP/MRP process accuracy to ensure reliable supply, strong customer experience, and operational compliance.

This is a standalone manager role intentionally designed to expand into people management as the organization grows. The role provides broad exposure across S&OP, operational excellence, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration, supporting long-term leadership development.

Responsibilities and Duties

Supply Planning

  • Build and execute supply plans to ensure product availability.
  • Coordinate with global teams and suppliers to manage constraints and risks.
  • Support new product launches and phase-outs.

S&OP Lead

  • Lead Japan’s full S&OP cycle.
  • Align Finance, Marketing, Sales and Global SCM on a single integrated plan.
  • Present supply scenarios, risks, and recommendations to leadership.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels and reduce excess/expiry risk.
  • Set and review safety stock and replenishment logic.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis for inventory issues and drive corrective actions.

SAP/MRP

  • Own SAP/MRP planning master data and parameters.
  • Manage MRP exceptions and ensure accurate planning signals.
  • Lead testing and support enhancements to SAP planning processes.
  • Train stakeholders on SAP/MRP best practices.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive Lean-minded improvements across planning and supply chain processes.
  • Support digitalization and automation of planning workflows.
  • Create and update SOPs.

KPI & Reporting

  • Build dashboards using Power BI and Excel.
  • Manage key metrics across supply, service, and inventory performance.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with QA/QC, Procurement, Finance, Marketing, Customer Support and 3PL providers.
  • Support Head of SCM on strategic and ad hoc initiatives.

Role Growth & Development Path

People Leadership

  • Managing and developing planners or analysts.
  • Leading hiring, onboarding, and capability building.

Extended Leadership Scope

  • Leading larger cross-functional supply chain initiatives.
  • Taking on broader responsibilities across supply chain operations.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • APICS, Lean, or Six Sigma preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years in supply planning or supply chain management.
  • Strong hands-on SAP/MRP experience.
  • Experience in regulated industries preferred.

Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Proficient with SAP, Power BI, Excel.

Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

High ownership, initiative, and customer focus.
