We’re looking for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join O’Brien on a 12-month fixed-term contract, partnering across Finance and the business to drive accuracy, insights, and continuous improvement.
About the Role
- Reporting into the Finance leadership team, you will take ownership of key financial reporting processes while supporting a large-scale IT transformation.
- This is a hands-on role where you’ll balance technical accounting, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of statutory accounts, year-end audit, and tax compliance (income tax & FBT)
- Support and strengthen the financial control framework during an ongoing IT transformation
- Perform month-end close, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Own and deliver accurate balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies
- Partner with stakeholders to drive accurate accruals and month-end outcomes
- Prepare and analyse the 14-week rolling cash flow forecast
- Take ownership of the stock accounting process, including forecasting and variance analysis
- Collaborate across Finance, including AP, AR, commercial teams, and branches
- Mentor and support a small team (1 Accountant, 2 Assistant Accountants)
- Drive process improvements and best practice financial discipline across divisions

About You
You’re a technically strong accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys improving systems and processes.
Key Requirements
- CA/CPA qualified
- Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar financial accounting role
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls, and compliance
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Strong analytical mindset with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
