We are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to support planning, scheduling, and programme coordination activities across major projects during the pre-contract phase. The successful candidate will come from a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) background and possess extensive experience in programme, portfolio, and project-level planning for large-scale developments.
The role is responsible for developing integrated delivery strategies, master schedules, governance frameworks, and executive reporting across multiple projects. The candidate will be expected to consolidate information from project, portfolio, and programme levels to provide meaningful analysis, performance insights, and digital dashboards that support senior leadership decision-making.
Strategic Planning & Programme Integration
- Develop integrated master programmes for complex portfolios, programmes, and individual projects.
- Establish planning standards, scheduling methodologies, governance processes, and reporting frameworks.
- Prepare programme roadmaps, delivery strategies, and schedule hierarchies aligned with client objectives.
- Ensure alignment between project schedules, portfolio priorities, and programme-level milestones.
- Coordinate interfaces between multiple consultants, stakeholders, and delivery teams to maintain schedule integrity.
- Support the assessment of programme risks, dependencies, and delivery constraints.
Pre-Contract Planning
- Prepare and coordinate planning inputs for feasibility studies, design development, procurement strategies, and tendering activities.
- Develop baseline programmes, procurement schedules, design schedules, and critical path analyses.
- Review consultant and contractor schedules during tender evaluations.
- Assess programme compliance, deliverability, resource requirements, and schedule risks.
- Support value engineering initiatives and delivery optimisation studies.
- Contribute planning expertise during commercial and technical evaluations.
- Portfolio & Programme Controls
- Consolidate schedule information across multiple projects to provide a portfolio-wide view of delivery performance.
- Monitor programme controls processes including schedule governance, progress measurement, forecasting, and risk analysis.
- Identify key interdependencies, constraints, and risks that could affect programme objectives.
- Analyse critical paths, schedule health, float consumption, and milestone achievement.
- Develop recovery scenarios and planning solutions to address delivery challenges.
Digital Reporting & Executive Dashboards
- Develop and maintain digital dashboards using Power BI and other reporting platforms.
- Consolidate project and programme data into meaningful executive-level reporting and visualisations.
- Produce portfolio performance reports, KPI dashboards, trend analysis, and strategic planning updates.
- Prepare presentations and briefing materials for senior management and client leadership teams.
- Support reporting automation and continuous improvement of planning analytics and data quality processes.
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with clients, project directors, programme teams, and technical disciplines to ensure planning alignment.
- Facilitate planning workshops, schedule reviews, and programme coordination meetings.
- Provide planning advice and schedule-related recommendations to project stakeholders.
- Support governance reviews through clear communication of programme status, risks, and key milestones.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline.
- Master's Degree is advantageous.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PSP, AACE, PMI-SP, or equivalent are desirable.
- Minimum 15+ years of planning and project controls experience.
- Significant experience within a PMC or client-side programme management environment.
- Proven experience managing planning activities across major programmes, portfolios, and complex mixed-use, infrastructure, buildings, or giga-project developments.
- Demonstrated experience in pre-contract planning, tender support, procurement planning, and programme development.
- Experience preparing executive-level reporting for senior leadership and client organisations.
Advanced Primavera P6 expertise.
- Strong understanding of programme controls, risk management, and schedule governance.
- Experience developing portfolio and programme dashboards using Power BI or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and data visualisation skills.
- Experience with PMIS and integrated reporting environments.
- Ability to interpret large volumes of project data and present clear strategic insights.
