Role Overview
We are looking for experienced US-based criminal defense attorneys to review legal scenarios, assess AI-generated legal content, and create realistic analyses based on professional criminal defense practice. The work will involve criminal procedure, evidentiary issues, plea negotiations, motions, trial strategy, and legal reasoning . No previous AI experience is required ; practical legal expertise is the primary requirement.
CONTRACT: Freelance contractor, project-based
COMMITMENT: Flexible, based on project workload
LOCATIONS: Fully remote, United States
PROCESS: Application review, legal expertise assessment (AI-led), onboarding
HOURLY RATE: $140 - $400/h
NOTES: An active license to practice law and substantial criminal defense experience are required.
Responsibilities
- Review and annotate criminal law documents, court scenarios, and case materials .
- Evaluate AI-generated legal content for factual, procedural, and legal accuracy.
- Create realistic hypothetical case analyses based on criminal defense practice.
- Develop and review motions, plea agreements, legal arguments, and trial strategies .
- Analyze evidentiary issues and explain their impact on case strategy.
- Provide clear explanations of criminal procedure and legal reasoning.
- Identify legally unsound, incomplete, misleading, or ethically problematic outputs.
- Review complex fact patterns and assess potential defense approaches.
- Provide structured feedback to improve the accuracy and quality of legal AI outputs.
- Collaborate with project teams to refine evaluation standards and legal datasets.
Requirements
- Active license to practice law in a recognized jurisdiction.
- Substantial professional experience practicing criminal defense law .
- Strong knowledge of criminal law, criminal procedure, evidence, and trial advocacy.
- Hands-on experience developing case strategy and advising on criminal matters.
- Experience drafting and reviewing motions, briefs, pleadings, or plea agreements .
- Proven ability to analyze complex factual and evidentiary issues.
