About The Role

As a Deputy Manger, you'll be a hands-on leader who inspires your team, creates a positive working environment, and ensures every customer receives the friendly, efficient service Greggs is known for.
Working closely with your Site manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the shop, driving sales, maintaining exceptional operational standards, and developing a motivated team. You'll lead by example, ensuring the shop is a great place to work while delivering excellent business performance.
About the Role
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Manage the daily operation of the shop, ensuring products are available, fresh, and presented to Greggs' high standards.
- Drive sales, control costs, and maximise profitability through effective stock management and waste reduction.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, health and safety, and company policies.
- Recruit, train, coach, and support colleagues to help them develop and succeed.
- Create staff rotas, manage labour costs, and ensure appropriate staffing levels throughout the day.
- Monitor shop performance, analyse key performance indicators, and implement improvements where needed.
- Handle cash management, banking, and administrative responsibilities accurately and securely.
- Resolve customer queries professionally and promote a welcoming, customer-first culture.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised shop environment at all times.
About You
- Previous management experience in retail, hospitality, or food service.
- A positive, supportive leader who motivates others and leads by example.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience of driving sales and controlling costs.
- Confident working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and people management skills.
- Good understanding of food safety, health and safety, and operational compliance.
- Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and developing high-performing teams.
