Description of Job Duty

Lead the development and execution of strategic communications, engagement, and stewardship initiatives that strengthen relationships with alumni, donors, and other key constituents. This position oversees Advancement communications across print, digital, email, web, and social media platforms; manages donor stewardship communications; and supports the University's fundraising and engagement goals through effective messaging, content development, and leadership within Crawford Alumni Center.

Essential Functions

Under the direction of the Executive Director for the Crawford Alumni Center (CAC), this position will oversee all print and electronic communication related to engagement and stewardship, including print, digital, email, web, and social media platforms. Develop an Advancement communications calendar. Create all original copy for University Advancement communications including but not limited to: engagement pieces; solicitations for direct mail, email, and social media; speechwriting for events, stewardship pieces such as Gratitude, Impact, and Alumnus newsletter, etc.; other stewardship pieces as assigned; establish and manage stewardship-related initiatives including acknowledgements, recognition, and ongoing communications with past and current donors to enhance their relationship with the University and Foundation in an effort to increase the likelihood of continued contributions. Manage CAC social media, including creating content, scheduling, and posting. Manage Advancement email platform by drafting and sending all alumni and donor related emails, as requested from university departments. Provide support to Advancement events by attending and participating as needed.

Work Hours

Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed.

Salary

Commensurate with education and experience. Level P2, Grade 10.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field (marketing, journalism, communications or similar). Five years of related experience in high‐level communications and an ability to develop messaging to varied audiences through multiple mediums. Ability to work under pressure and ensure that deadlines are strictly met. Highly organized and the ability to triage work assignments so that pressing and urgent matters are managed appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution. Experience in a communication related role within higher education or non-profit.
