About the role

This is a senior legal advisory role providing broad support across Challenger's retirement income, insurance, superannuation and investment management businesses - spanning product development, strategic partnerships, regulatory advice and commercial transactions.

You'll join a small, high-performing Legal, Product team as Senior Legal Counsel, with the Life Product team as your primary client. • Advise on distribution and marketing matters, including PDS, adviser and platform relationships, licensing, DDO and disclosure obligations
  • Draft, negotiate and advise on a broad range of commercial arrangements, including strategic partnerships, distribution, technology, outsourcing and investment management agreements
  • Support legal risk management and governance, including regulatory interactions, breach and incident management, and enhancement of legal frameworks and policies
  • Build strong relationships with senior business stakeholders across Product, Distribution, Investments, Risk and Compliance, acting as a trusted adviser

What you'll bring

  • Approximately 5 –10 years PQE, gained in a leading law firm and/or in-house legal function, with experience in Life Insurance, Australian Superannuation Legislation, and APRA regulatory requirements, along with knowledge of annuities or other income stream products.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Corporations Act, including directors’ duties, related party transactions and trust law.
  • Demonstrated experience managing legal risk within a corporate or investment environment.
  • Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and a current Australian practising certificate.
