
Controls Hardware Technical Assistant

About The Role
The Technical Assistant supports the Controls Engineering Manager and the Controls team with project coordination, planning, reporting and administrative follow-up for automation projects. The role maintains project dashboards in Smartsheet, coordinates progress, resource and budget tracking, supports procurement activities and continuously improves planning, reporting and engineering processes.
- Maintain project dashboards and planning in Smartsheet.
- Track project progress, milestones and deliverables (design freeze, drawings, BOM, material ordering, deliveries, installation handover, checklists and open items).
- Prepare progress reports and management dashboards.
- Monitor actuals versus budget for field equipment, electrical cabinets, electrical installation contractors and engineering hours.
- Support capacity planning, headcount allocation and workload reporting.
- Coordinate engineering input with PMO and other stakeholders.
- Support RFQs, bid evaluations, Purchase Requisitions (PR) and Purchase Orders (PO).
- Follow up material deliveries and installation parts for new projects.
- Standardize and continuously improve planning, reporting and engineering processes.
- Maintain templates, dashboards and project documentation.
- Ensure consistent project data across Smartsheet and other systems.
- Maintain project documentation and reporting.
- Support project meetings, action lists and management reporting.
- Keep project data accurate and up to date.
- Build up good knowledge of Smartsheet and the other planning and reporting tools the team uses.
- Stay familiar with the way MOVU plans and reports its projects.
- Share what works well with the rest of the team, so the whole team gets better at planning and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or graduate in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Project Management or equivalent through experience.
- 2-5 years of experience in a technical, engineering support or project coordination role, preferably in an industrial or automation environment.
- Affinity with industrial automation, electrical engineering or controls engineering.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with a structured way of working.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers, project managers, procurement and management.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify issues and drive follow-up.
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Smartsheet or similar project planning tools (MS Project, Primavera, Monday.com, etc.).
- Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP) for PR/PO processing and project administration.
- Experience with dashboards, reporting and KPI follow-up.
- Knowledge of project planning and resource planning principles.
- Understanding of budgets, cost tracking and project milestones.
- Fluent in English; Dutch is an asset.
Nice to have
- Experience in machine automation, material handling systems or intralogistics.
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, electrical cabinets).
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering projects.
