We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Education Teacher/Director of Intramurals to join our educational team. This candidate will teach PE to elementary students and additionally through a $5000 stipend, will also manage the academy's Intramural Sports program.

Physical Education at Great Hearts
- All Great Hearts Elementary School students take Physical Education.
- The goal of the Physical Education class is to promote both the physical health and the growth in virtue of each student.
- Rigorous and joyful PE classes have a combination of strength and cardio exercises, training in the basics of sports, and discussions on the virtues, including fortitude, temperance, prudence, and justice.
- Sports include baseball, soccer, volleyball, football, and basketball.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
- Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
- Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
- Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
Director of Intramural Duties
- Schedule practices and games for each season (There are 8 teams, 4 major seasons, and sports include basketball, soccer, volleyball/flag football, archery/running. Mathletes and Chess during fall season as well.)
- Hire coaches.
- Be on site to supervise after-school practices and Saturday morning games.
- Parent communications
- Additional duties can be clarified upon request.
Required/Preferred Education
- Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role
- Certification is not required for general education
- All majors are welcome
- US work authorization required
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
- Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
