About The Role

Job Summary

  • The Irrigation and Lighting Manager is responsible for the overall management,
  • maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of all irrigation and landscape lighting
  • systems operated by the company. The position oversees feld operations, project planning,
  • estimating, client relations, business development, budgeting, and team leadership to
  • ensure projects are completed safely, eƯiciently, on time, and within budget.
  • The Irrigation and Lighting Manager serves as the primary technical expert for irrigation and
  • lighting systems while also supporting company growth through client engagement,
  • upselling opportunities, and the preparation of accurate estimates and proposals.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relations and Business Development

  •  Meet with prospective and existing clients to assess irrigation and landscape lighting
  • needs.
  •  Conduct site inspections and evaluations to identify system deficiencies,
  • improvement opportunities, and client requirements.
  •  Develop and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and
  • exceptional service delivery.
  • upgrades, renovations, water-saving technologies, lighting enhancements, and
  • maintenance services.
  •  Prepare recommendations and solutions that enhance landscape health,
  • appearance, eƯiciency, and safety.
  •  Participate in client meetings and presentations as required.

Estimating and Sales Support

  •  Review construction drawings, landscape plans, and specifications.
  •  Perform quantity take-outs for irrigation and landscape lighting projects.
  •  Prepare accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor estimates.
  •  Develop project budgets and proposals for new installations, upgrades, and repairs.
  •  Assist with bid preparation and proposal submissions.
  •  Review project costs and profitability prior to submission.

Irrigation Management

  •  Plan, organize, and oversee the maintenance, repair, and installation of irrigation
  • systems.
  •  Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure proper operation and water
  • conservation.
  •  Diagnose and troubleshoot irrigation system failures, including pumps, valves,
  • controllers, wiring, sensors, and pipe networks.
  •  Develop seasonal irrigation schedules and water management plans.
  •  Monitor water usage and recommend efficiency improvements.
  •  Coordinate emergency repairs to minimize landscape damage and service
  • interruptions.

Landscape Lighting Management

  •  Oversee installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of landscape lighting
  • systems.
  •  Ensure proper operation of transformers, timers, photocells, LED fxtures, wiring, and
  • control systems.
  •  Conduct nighttime inspections and quality assurance reviews.
  •  Recommend upgrades to improve aesthetics, security, and energy eƯiciency.
  •  Ensure all installations comply with applicable electrical and safety standards.

Operations and Project Management

  •  Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly work activities.
  •  Assign crews, equipment, and resources to maximize productivity and eƯiciency.
  •  Monitor project schedules and ensure work is completed according to specifcations.
  •  Enforce productivity standards and ensure crews meet established performance
  • targets.
  •  Track labor hours, equipment utilization, and material consumption.
  •  Monitor job budgets throughout project execution and implement corrective actions
  • when necessary to maintain profitability.
  •  Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational deficiencies while maintaining
  • quality standards.
  •  Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with
  • company standards.

Work Order and Administrative Management

  •  Review completed work to verify quality and client satisfaction.
  •  Ensure all work orders, service tickets, and project documentation are completed
  • accurately.
  •  Close all work orders within 24 hours of project or service completion.
  •  Prepare operational reports, budget updates, and performance metrics as required.
  •  Utilize company software systems for scheduling, reporting, inventory management,
  • and job costing.

Team Leadership and Supervision

  •  Supervise irrigation and lighting technicians and support personnel.
  •  Train employees in installation procedures, troubleshooting techniques, safety
  • requirements, and company standards.
  •  Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development
  • opportunities.
  •  Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  •  Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Inventory and Asset Management

  •  Maintain inventory levels for irrigation and lighting components.
  •  Coordinate purchasing and procurement activities.
  •  Monitor equipment condition and schedule repairs or replacements.
  •  Control inventory costs and minimize waste.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  •  Ensure compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  •  Conduct safety meetings and Feld inspections.
  •  Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, vehicles, and personal protective equipment.
  •  Promote a safe working environment and investigate incidents as required.

Qualifcations

Education

  •  Associate degree, technical certifcation, or equivalent experience in irrigation,
  • landscape management, electrical systems, construction management, or a related
  • field preferred.

Experience

  •  Minimum 5 years of irrigation and landscape lighting experience.
  •  Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
  •  Experience preparing estimates, project budgets, and construction take-oƯs.
  •  Experience managing multiple crews and projects simultaneously.

Technical Skills

  •  Advanced knowledge of irrigation systems, pumps, controllers, valves, and water
  • management practices.
  •  Strong understanding of low-voltage landscape lighting systems.
  •  Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
  •  Proficiency in estimating, budgeting, and job costing.
  •  Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and industry-related software.

Other Requirements

  •  Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  •  Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.
  •  Ability to perform site inspections and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
