Job Title: Plumber Technician
Summary
The Plumber Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role ensures compliance with safety standards and building codes while delivering high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
Perform a variety of skilled plumbing duties necessary for the maintenance of facilities.
- Install, maintain and service structural plumbing equipment, including water softeners, circulating pumps, fountains, sinks and restroom facilities as required.
- Diagnosing and troubleshoot plumbing issues, including leaks, clogs, and water pressure problems.
- Clear drains and obstructions in water and sewer systems and related fixtures; work from blueprints, diagrams and sketches.
- Assist in identifying and ordering needed parts and materials; submit orders for parts as needed.
- Estimate time, materials and equipment required for assigned jobs; maintain records of work performed and parts used.
- Aid in various other areas of maintenance as required; perform semi-skilled to skilled maintenance repair and construction works in the basic trades.
- Perform general clean up at job site; observe and implement proper safety practices.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Test plumbing systems for leaks and other issues.
- Collaborate with other technicians and contractors on large projects.
- Ensure compliance with local plumbing codes and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used in the C.M.M.S. work order tracking system.
- Respond to emergency plumbing calls as needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years of plumbing experience.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and materials.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Time management and organizational skills.
Work Conditions
- May require working evenings, weekends, and possible on-call shifts.
- Exposure to varying temperatures and confined spaces.
- Working in a corporate office environment.
- Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the position requires work to be performed in all weather conditions including wet, hot, and cold. The nature of the work also requires the individual to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.
