PRN Patient Care Technician - ETC

The successful candidate

THIS IS A PRN POSITION

Paraprofessional caregiver who works under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse. Assumes responsibility and accountability for activities of daily living, certain tests and procedures, environmental duties and other tasks as assigned. Organizes and manages the activity at the nursing desk to support the nursing process and provision of care to the patient. Ensures accurate and timely order entry and the proper notification and coordination of the multidisciplinary team.

Education/Experience Level

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Six months prior experience as a nurse aid in a health care environment, a second year nursing student, active EMT license, or six months prior experience in a medical setting
• PCT certification, CNA license, or EMT license preferred
• Current BLS required (Obtain AHA certificate within 30 days of hire)
• Phlebotomy training with the ability/certification to insert IVs preferred.

• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Products
• Excellent communication, clerical, organizational, interpersonal and guest relation skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to plan and/or organize activities occurring in the nursing station
• Ability to prioritize
• 40 wpm typing
