About The Role
The Manager of Surgical Services provides leadership and operational oversight for Surgical Services, including the OR, Sterile Processing, PACU/SDS, Inpatient, and GI departments. Responsible for 24/7 departmental operations, staff development, clinical outcomes, regulatory compliance, and resource management. Partners with physicians, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care, support clinical excellence, and foster a culture centered on patient and family care.
The successful candidate
- Coordinates day-to-day management of PACU, GI, and OR schedules and patient care activities.
- Coordinates staff scheduling, call coverage, vacation schedules, and oversees time and attendance documentation and approvals.
- Leads staff education and development by overseeing in-services, educational programs, competency validation, cross-training, and onboarding activities for Surgical Services staff.
- Analyzes departmental resource needs and participates in the selection and procurement of equipment, instruments, and outside resources to support surgical and GI procedures.
- Collaborates with medical staff, the Surgical Director, peers, and team members to resolve conflicts and foster positive interdisciplinary relationships.
- Leads quality and performance improvement initiatives through unit-based and hospital-wide councils, interdepartmental collaboration, and the development of best practice standards across the enterprise.
- Recommends personnel actions to the Director, including hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, training and development, terminations, and credential verification (licensure/certification).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred
- Current Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Current CPR and ACLS certifications required
- National specialty certification required
- Previous nursing leadership/management experience preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in OR, PACU, and Same Day Surgery (SDS)
- Experience with Sterile Processing and Surgical Services operations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage resources, and support high-quality patient care outcomes
