About The Role
The successful candidate
- Demonstrates competence with assessment and recognition of normal/abnormal responses to treatments and institute appropriate interventions.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills to manage complex patient and family needs.
- Delivers designated nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with the stated medical plan of care.
- Administer medications via all routes, using the 6 rights, medication bar scanner and monitoring patient for side effects.
- Responsible and accountable for providing nursing leadership to non-licensed staff as demonstrated by prescribing and coordinating nursing care for optimum patient outcomes.
- Ability to read and operate cardiac monitor, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms, and institute appropriate interventions within 6 months of hire.
- Completion of Basic Electrocardiogram (ECG) course in the online learning management system.
- Demonstrates competence with administration of chemotherapeutic/immunotherapeutic agents through ONS
- Completion of ONS Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) course within 3 months of hire.
- Thorough knowledge of and ability to implement principles of aseptic technique. Knowledge of basic infection control practices; Performs or assists others to perform proper aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.
- Ability to care for patients with IV lines, central lines, ports, chest tubes, pleural catheters and tracheostomy tubes.
- Maintenance and care of patients with ostomy/ileostomy and urostomy.
- Care for, assess and monitor patients with Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and epidural catheters.
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include
- 1 year experience in inpatient (IP) chemo, blood cancers
- Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent
- Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification- an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross BLS certification is required upon hire and renewal every two years. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, employees will have (30) days from the date of hire to attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification-Will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until AHA ACLS cards are obtained.
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Card within 30 days of hire and renewal every two years.
