About The Role

The Corr o sion Control Spe c ialist performs aircraft corr o sion c o ntrol to include w a shing, clea n ing, corrosion detection, cor r osion r e moval, metal tre a tme n t, a n d touch up painting. Assist in the preparation of the aircraft and/or components f o r complete re p aint.

Essential Responsibilitie s

  • Perf o rm tasks a s a s signed /directed by Cre w Le a der a n d/or Lea d Man with instr u ctions,

applica b le tec h nical data, manuals, and directive s .

  • Perf o rm the dutie s and responsibilities of the Aircr a ft Washe r classification.
  • Prese r ve and de - preserve aircra f t.
  • Complete applica b le mainten a nc e forms.
  • Use ha n d and powe r tools as r e quire d for corrosion preve n tion, treatme n t and touch up painting.
  • Detect, identify, remove, and treat corr o sion.
  • Perf o rm touc h up painting. Touc h up is de f ine d as an a r ea no large r tha n one squa r e foot,

excluding aircra f t leading edge s .

  • Assist in the pr e paration of the aircra f t a n d / or components for c o mplete re p ainting

including the application of model, labels, and the make u p, cut out and prepa r ation of stencils.

  • Provide and maintain own hand tools as pre s cribed by minimum tool list .
  • Provide tec h nical assistanc e , guida n ce a n d instruction as re q uired for training of pe r sonnel in the same or le s ser gr a de classifications in are a of re s ponsibility. D e monstrates job

  • Ensure that all aircra f t parts/components removed fr o m a n aircraft are pr o pe r ly doc u mente d by a valid Maintena n ce A c tion Form a n d Job Control Number, e n suring repair a ble ,

ser v icea b le , or unservicea b le pa r ts are properly tagge d and turned in a n d/or dispose d of.

  • Comply with a n d follow e s tablishe d standa r ds of workmanship, saf e ty, quality, a n d

production.

  • Perf o rm the duties and responsibilities of the lesse r gr a de cla s sific a tions in ar e a of

re s ponsibility .

  • Make recommendations to mana g eme n t to improve pr o ductivity, increa s e efficiencie s ,

and/or c u t c o sts.

  • Ope r ate porta b le fire f ighting equipment.
  • Comply with all applica b le pr o grams, including Saf e ty, Foreign Object Damage (FOD ) , Ha z ar d ous Communications, Corrosion Control, a n d Tool Control .
  • Maintain Emer g ency Reclamation locker and perform duties of emergency re c lamation member as directed by progr a m te c hnical manuals.
  • Perf o rm all other position related duties a s a s signe d or re q ue s ted.

Minimum Positi o n Kn o wledge, Skills, and Abilitie s Requir e d

  • Satisf a ctory completion of The U.S. Na v y Corro s ion Control School or ac c eptable substitute or FAA Airf r ame Lic e nse.
  • Tw o ( 2 ) or more yea r s ge n eral experience in aircr a ft corr o sion c o ntrol.
  • Able to pass a n y Government and/or Company lice n sing/qualification r e quirements for the position.
  • Requir e d to be Pla n e Captain certified.
  • Must be Respirator Qualified
  • Possess a valid state drive r ’s lice n se.
  • Familiar with normal ope r ational saf e ty r e quirements, working on and

ar o und aircraft and ground support equipme n t.

  • Possess a thor o ugh w o rking knowledg e of corrosion the o ry, detection, tre a tme n t, a n d prevention.
  • Working knowledge of applic a ble maintenance / tec h nic a l manuals, basic tools and special tools.
  • Ability to re a d, write, unde r sta n d, and c o mmunicate the English language and to follow ver b al and writte n instruction.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands

  • Requires sitting, standin g , and walking f o r extended pe r iods of time.
  • Require s fre q ue n t climbing, be n ding, stooping, squatting, cra w ling, crouc h ing, kneeling, lifting, ca r rying, balancing and r e aching a b ove shoulder level, pushing or pulling weight up to 70 pounds.
  • Require s eye - hand coor d ination and manual dexterity.
  • Must have close vision, c o lor vision, peripheral vision, de p th pe r ception and the a b ility to adjust focus.
  • Require s hearing to normal ra n ge.
  • Requires use of respirator.
  • Require s shift work and a dive r sity of working conditions that range fr o m a standard shop type environme n t, where there may be no physical discomfort, to a n environme n t w h ere inclement we a the r may subject individual to se v ere changes in temper a ture , direct sun, wind, rain, etc.
  • May be requir e d to work in a r ea s wher e noise haz a rds are pre v alent.
  • Exposure to high intensity noise le v els, extreme changes in temperature, materials identifie d on Material Saf e ty Data Sheets, working on or around aircra f t a n d mac h ine r y, aircraft maintenance shops, hangars, and flight line.
  • Must be a b le to physically operate Aircraft ground servicing equipment including vehicle s , tugs, tra c tor s , servicing ca r ts, test e q uipment, hand tools, powe r tools .
