About The Role
Day - 8 Hour (United States of America)I. Position Summary
Manages the operations of the Emergency Department under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer. Ensures 24/7 management accountability and assists in promoting evidence-based practices. Leads initiatives to foster a patient/family centered environment and transform care delivery. Manages the staff that provides the delivery of patient care for a group of patients. Directs and delegates patient care assignments to health team via the Manager and the Assistant Nurse Managers based on patient care needs. Collaborates with senior management, directors, managers, and emergency department contract providers to ensure appropriate resources to internal/external customers. Serves as advocate on behalf of staff and patients/families. Works in establishing collegial relations with physicians. Handles the financial responsibilities of the department. Acts in place of the Chief Nursing Officer when assigned. Responsible for carrying out the mission, vision, values and quality commitment of Houston Healthcare.
I. Qualifications
A. Education & Training
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a BSN degree.
B. Experience
Five (5) years clinical nursing experience. Previous supervisor/management experience.
C. Required Certification/Registration/Licensure
Current US state RN license with authorization to practice in the state of GA. Current AHA/ARC BLS certification. Current AHA ACLSARC ALS and AHA/ARC PALS certification or obtained within nine (9) months of hire. CPT training within 9 months of hire.
D. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must be able to utilize diagnostic equipment as well as patient care equipment. Must be able to utilize personal protective equipment such as gloves, gown, mask, etc. Must be able to utilize standard office equipment. Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Midas, Quadrant, etc.). Proficiency in Intranet/Internet use. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent oral/written communication skills. Skilled in conflict resolution, critical thinking, task management and appropriate prioritization/delegation. Provides oversight of evaluations to ensure they are turned in timely. Effective budget development and management. Able to coordinate, plan and conducts effective meetings.
