Position Summary

Adjunct Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium

The Department of Music at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. This part-time position will provide applied instruction to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in music.

Responsibilities

  • Teach weekly 50-minute applied lessons in tuba and euphonium.
  • Teach a weekly 50-minute studio class for all tuba and euphonium students.
  • Recruit and retain outstanding students to the Department of Music.
  • Assist with student auditions, placement hearings, and juries as requested.
  • Collaborate with faculty and ensemble directors to support student artistic development.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and submit grades and assessments in accordance with university policies.

Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Music is part of a comprehensive R1 research university serving more than 30,000 students across South Florida. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in music and maintains an active performance schedule featuring the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Ensembles, Jazz Ensembles, and a wide range of community engagement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s degree in Music or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated success as a performer and teacher of tuba and/or euphonium.

Preferred

  • Doctoral degree in Music.
  • College-level teaching experience.
  • Evidence of successful student recruitment and mentorship.

Similarly, for degrees from outside the United States, the evaluation by an organization belonging to the National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES), with an indication of the documents the evaluation was prepared from (official transcripts, diplomas, dissertation abstracts) is required for the Provost’s credential file prior to the first day of employment. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University, not to the individual applicant.

Background Screening
