Role Summary
Sophos is looking for a Manager, Finance System Support to lead the team that keeps our core finance systems running smoothly and continuously improving. In this role, you will manage day-to-day support for SAP and related finance applications, oversee month-end close readiness, guide access management and controls, help deliver system enhancements that improve the experience for our global finance users, contribute to broader finance initiatives and cross-functional projects where finance systems, process, data, controls, or operational expertise is required, and support the development and adoption of AI-enabled initiatives that improve finance processes, insights, automation, and user experience. This is a great opportunity for an experienced people manager who combines finance systems knowledge, strong stakeholder management, and a practical, service-focused approach to solving complex operational problems.
What You Will Do
- Lead, coach, and develop the Finance System Support team, setting priorities and ensuring high quality service across the finance systems landscape.
- Own day to day support for key finance systems, ensuring incidents, requests, recurring issues, and escalations are managed effectively and transparently.
- Oversee month end close support, including system readiness, critical process monitoring, issue resolution, and timely communication of risks or blockers.
- Manage finance system access processes, including user requests, role governance, periodic reviews, segregation of duties considerations, and coordination with IT and control owners.
- Partner with finance, IT, internal development teams, and external support providers to resolve complex issues, identify root causes, and deliver sustainable fixes.
- Establish consistent support practices, documentation, controls, and user guidance across core finance processes, including AP, AR, inventory, fixed assets, general ledger, CRM, and BI reporting.
- Lead and support finance systems initiatives that strengthen controls, improve efficiency, support integrations, and respond to evolving business and compliance needs.
- Oversee requirements gathering, testing, change readiness, user communication, and post-implementation support for enhancements and new initiatives.
- Coordinate the quarterly release cycle for finance system priorities, from intake and prioritization through testing, deployment readiness, and communication of impacts.
- Ensure finance systems remain aligned with business, audit, compliance, and control requirements while balancing stability, usability, and scalable process design.
- Serve as an escalation point for finance leaders and business partners on system-related questions, process issues, controls, and support priorities.
What You Will Bring
- Experience working with finance or accounting processes, with the ability to understand operational workflows, controls, accounting impacts, and system-related risks.
- Previous people management experience is required, including experience leading, coaching, prioritizing work, managing escalations, and improving team service delivery.
- Experience supporting large ERP systems is required; SAP experience is preferred, and experience across a broader finance systems landscape is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of support processes, access management, change control, testing, documentation, release management, and finance system controls.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work across finance, IT, development teams, external partners, and senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex issues, identify root causes, and drive practical, well-controlled resolutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, balance operational support with project delivery, and maintain high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
