About The Role
Safety Worxs is seeking a Project Safety Coordinator (PSC) for a heavy civil, parking garage project in Houston, TX. There is not per diem, so local candidate preferred . The (PSC) is responsible for leading and managing all construction safety activities from project commencement through substantial completion. This role ensures full compliance with federal, state, and project-specific safety standards while fostering a proactive, positive safety culture. The PSC will remain active on the project until the ODR provides written concurrence for removal.
Responsibilities
- Administer and oversee the project’s safety program throughout the full construction lifecycle.
- Implement and manage construction safety processes, including hazard identification, mitigation, and routine field inspections.
- Conduct incident investigations and prepare documentation with preventive recommendations.
- Provide documented continuing education and practical training in:
- Fall Protection
- Scaffolds
- Excavation & Trenching
- Confined Space
- Crane/Equipment Operations
- Electrical Safety
- Incident Investigation
- Review and approve safety method statements and procedures related to high-hazard activities.
- Coordinate emergency response planning, including First Aid/CPR/AED requirements.
- Maintain accurate safety records, compliance documentation, and training evidence.
- Serve as a liaison with the ODR and project leadership for all safety matters.
- Ensure subcontractors adhere to project safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- 7+ years building construction safety , (NOTE: O&G, industrial, specialty 3rd party contractor will not suffice) or
- 4-year safety degree and 3+ years of actual field safety experience.
- Must possess OSHA 500 (Construction Industry Trainer) OR OSHA 502 (Trainer Update) .
- NOTE: OSHA 10 or 30 and OSHA 510 do not satisfy the training requirement.
- Documented continuing education in the following, dated within the last 5 years:
- Fall Protection
- Scaffolds
- Excavation
- Confined Space
- Crane/Equipment Operations
- Electrical Safety
- Incident Investigation
- Other relevant safety/health topics
- Current certifications in:
- Emergency First Aid
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
(All must be current within 2 years.)
- Strong, demonstrated experience in incident prevention, field engagement, and enforcing safety compliance.
