Deputy General Manager (DGM)- Base Engine Department - Research and Development Business Unit - Khadki

Lead Design and development of major engine component and integration of the same in engine. Have to look through full lifecycle of the product with system level approach. Key Responsibilities Strategic •Benchmark leading industry practices for engine design to identify gaps in company product performance vs. industry Financial •Provide inputs to Head-NPD for the preparation of the project design budget based on project requirements in terms of the resources, timelines, technicalities etc. •Ensure adherence to project cost budget; monitor on a periodic basis to identify deviations and undertake corrective actions Operational •Design and develop new diesel engine components and systems, including but not limited to: cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons, valvetrain components, fuel systems, lubrication systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems. •Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) to create detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings. •Conduct engineering calculations and simulations (e.g., FEA, CFD) to validate designs, predict performance, and identify areas for optimization. •Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, testing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure design manufacturability, assembly, and performance. •Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to enhance product reliability, durability, and cost-effectiveness. •Investigate and resolve design-related issues, implement corrective actions, and document design changes. •Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in diesel engine design and manufacturing. •Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for design projects. •Contribute to intellectual property development through patents and trade secrets. •Escalate any deviations with respect to timelines, cost or process to Senior Management in a timely manner in consultation with the Head- NPD •Identify and assess potential risks associated with a project and coordinate with the relevant business teams to develop a risk mitigation strategy •Review cost / time estimate at the production scale up stage and provide inputs, if any, to the Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams •Undertake record keeping and documentation at various stages of the project in a timely manner and in compliance with the applicable norms and guidelines •Review the technical documentation with respect to the project closure to ensure adequacy and accuracy of the same •Ensure adherence to SOPs and applicable policies and guidelines in the project management activity
