About The Role

  1. Gas Exchange (Intake & Exhaust) Design and optimize Intake Systems, including air filtration, manifolds, and Charge Air Cooling (CAC) integration. Develop Exhaust Systems, focusing on manifold design, turbocharger matching Manage pressure pulse tuning and backpressure limits to optimize volumetric efficiency and fuel economy. 2. Fluid Systems (Cooling, Fuel, & Lube) Engineer Thermal Management Systems (Cooling) to handle heat rejection from the block, head. Design Fuel Delivery Systems, ensuring precise pressure regulation, filtration, and compatibility with high-pressure common rail requirements. Optimize Lubrication Circuits to ensure consistent oil film thickness and flow to critical components like bearings and piston cooling nozzles. 3. Simulation & Performance Utilize 1D Gas Dynamics tools (e.g., GT-Power) to simulate air-loop performance and transient response. Perform fluid flow and thermal analysis to predict system behavior under extreme environmental conditions. Conduct trade-off studies between pumping losses, cooling capacity, and system weight. 4. Validation & Compliance Draft and execute DVP&R protocols for all five systems. Collaborate with test cell engineers to validate air-to-boil limits, oil aeration, fuel consumption, and emissions compliance. Lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate risks in fluid leaks or thermal fatigue. Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering. Technical Expertise: Strong grasp of Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics. Proficiency in GT-Suite (GT-Power/GT-Drive) or similar 1D simulation software. Experience with turbocharger matching and exhaust gas energy recovery. Understanding of materials used in high-temperature exhaust environments (e.g., stainless steel, Ni-resist, Inconel). Tools: Familiarity with CAD (Creo/NX) for packaging and PLM software for documentation.
