With about 3.500 employees , we are the largest Flemish-speaking employer in Brussels , an international city with which we are all too happy to be connected, and around which our four campuses are located. 2 - Position Description Management of the main research programs and projects of the Department of Public Law and BruCel its research group that is currently being created Follow-up of the projects (actions and tasks) and their budgets Supporting senior staff with the further development of the research group: identifying relevant calls and assisting in grant writing (data management plans, ethics, stakeholder engagement, dissemination strategies, etc.) HR support: assistance for hiring research personnel and incoming researchers, performance reviews and exit interviews Organizing board meetings Communication with expert committees and the university authorities Research Team building: Organizing research meetings and research days Organizing teambuilding activities Organizing research trainings Outreach & Visibility Assistance with organizing conferences and seminars Internal and external communication: e.g. newsletter, website, social media For this function, our Humanities, Science and Engineering Campus in Elsene will serve as your home base. 3 - Profile What do we expect from you? You hold a Master's degree in Law. You have several years of proven research experience whether as part of doctoral research or not . Research experience in the domain of public law is an asset, but not a requirement Academia is your ‘home’ and you want to contribute to research by supporting a research team in its policy, management and daily operation You have experience with project management or prior involvement in research projects You have experience in preparing and following up financial reports, or are prepared to acquire these skills in a short period of time You have a basic understanding of regulations regarding GDPR and the duties of a Data Protection Officer, or are prepared to acquire this knowledge in a short period of time You have knowledge about or are willing to train yourself in research policy, data management and research ethics You have strong organizational and management skills You are a strong communicator (in writing and orally) and know how to communicate with both academic and non-academic audiences You have strong interpersonal and coaching skills, and you are a team player As a (non-)EEA national, meet the conditions for obtaining a valid permit for VUB and comply with the VUB residence requirements. You’ll be offered a part-time (0,5 FTE) contract for 2 years at a salary linked to Grade 7 or Grade 8, depending on your competences and previous relevant work experience.
