Overview
The Lifeguard/EMT provides medical expertise for staff and patron safety, incident response, and first aid in coordination with Lifeguards and other aquatics safety personnel during park operations.
Essential Functions
- 1 Responds to and assists with emergencies and provides emergency medical and first aid assistance to patrons daily.
- 2 Proactively monitors patrons and staff for signs and symptoms of distress and responds accordingly; remains calm and administers basic medical attention.
- 3 Drafts and completes reports and documentation daily related to incidents where medical assistance is provided to ensure transparency.
- 4 Assists with and participates in lifeguard in-service weekly and gives feedback, support, and information.
- 5 Maintains inventory daily of first aid supplies and tests AED and Oxygen equipment.
- 6 Provides lifeguarding activities when needed.
- 7 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
- 1 Knowledge of Lifeguarding and basic EMT procedures.
- 2 Knowledge of first aid, standards of care, maintaining needed equipment, and adequate supplies
- 3 Knowledge of water park rules for operation.
- 4 Knowledge of swimming pool maintenance and chemistry.
- 5 Ability to supervise, lead, and train lifeguarding and safety personnel.
- 6 Ability to identify distressed persons.
- 7 Ability to handle emergency situations quickly and effectively,
- 8 Ability to swim, run, walk, stand, and perform a wide range of physical abilities.
- 9 Ability to provide customer service and ensure patron safety for a large number of patrons at a large aquatics facility.
- 10 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
- 11 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Experience
1 year of experience as a lifeguard working with a large number of safety personnel in an aquatic facility.
Licenses and Certifications
EMT Basic Certification, Lifeguarding
Education
High School Diploma, GED
Salary Range
- $21.50 - $22.91
- The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
