Job Details Position Job Title: Product Development Engineer BG and BU: Amcor Flexible Europe, Middle East and Africa (AFEMEA) Function: Research and Development Location: Open location in Europe Line Manager’s Job Title: Product Development Manager Tobacco Contract Type: Permanent Job Purpose As part of the Global R&D organization, the resource will be responsible for project management, product development and customer technical support within the EMEA region in the dedicated segment scope. Special focus and accountability is given on the sustainability innovation roadmap. The role requires close links with customers and other stakeholders like sales, marketing, machine manufacturers, raw material suppliers, etc. in order to generate and deliver profitable growth through new product implementation, especially recyclable products, customer support, trouble shooting and product improvements.. Job Dimensions & Scope The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for supporting the execution of product development programs in-line with the strategic business needs, by overseeing R&D efforts in one of the market segments for flexible packaging. It requires potentially 30% of travelling, within Europe and possible international travels. You will report to the Product Development Manager. Principal Accountabilities Responsible for project management of development programs & coordination with various stakeholders including dedication to Amcor’ sustainability agenda New Product Development project from idea to launch industrialization in Amcor and at the customer, including project costs management and trial cost budget, in coordination with the Cross Functional team. Management of the project portfolio in the Innovation Management System. Responsible for Improvement and Maintenance projects on existing products in coordination with Procurement, Marketing, Sales, Product Management and Amcor Flexibles plants. Close cooperation with raw material suppliers and packaging machine manufacturers. Major Challenges & Complexities Coordination and effective communication with several functions and levels in the organization. Innovative thinking to find new and more effective solutions to drive for results. High responsiveness, flexibility and availability for customer support (customer focus). Capable to work in autonomy, with minimal supervision. Internal Relationships: Sales Product Management & Segment Marketing Manufacturing sites Global R&D (various Product Development teams, Core R&D, Pilots and Analytical labs) External Relationships: Customers Machine manufacturers Suppliers Qualifications/Requirements Formal Qualifications and Experience PhD or MS degree in Chemistry, Polymers or Material Science Experience in packaging, plastic processing Experience in medical market is an asset Demonstrated successful experience in developing new platforms and advanced technologies Passion for R&D and High Performance Culture oriented Excellent problem solving and prioritization skills A strong team player Fluency in English & Polish is required, other European language is an asset Specific Skills and Abilities Project management experience and proven project leadership roles Structure and self-discipline Proactive and able to communicate with senior management, sites and able to give seminars and presentations to customers Ability to build internal and external relationships
