### Accountabilities

The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining CarPlay functionality within Android-based automotive infotainment systems. The role requires strong technical ownership, system-level problem solving, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality connected vehicle experiences.

  • Design, develop, and integrate Apple CarPlay features within Android Automotive OS-based infotainment platforms.
  • Implement and maintain CarPlay connection lifecycle features, including connection management, projection, audio playback, alternate screen support, Siri enhancements, and error recovery.
  • Develop and enhance Binder/AIDL-based IPC communication for CarPlay projection services.
  • Build and maintain state machines and service lifecycle logic to ensure reliable CarPlay operation.
  • Work across Android framework and native components to support projection workflows.
  • Perform system-level debugging of crashes, ANRs, memory leaks, performance issues, and boot-time challenges.
  • Use debugging and profiling tools such as ADB, logcat, Perfetto, and Android Studio Profiler.
  • Apply JNI and native debugging techniques to diagnose and resolve cross-layer issues.
  • Support Apple CarPlay certification activities by investigating validation failures and implementing corrective solutions.
  • Collaborate with QA, certification, and platform teams to improve stability, compliance, and overall product quality.
  • Stay updated on CarPlay specifications, iOS compatibility changes, and Android Automotive platform updates.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute technical guidance within the development team.

## Requirements

The ideal candidate is a software engineer with strong Android system development experience and a passion for automotive technology. They should have expertise in embedded software, connectivity solutions, and debugging complex platform-level issues.

  • 3–6 years of experience in software engineering, preferably in automotive or embedded systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Kotlin, Java, and C++.
  • Hands-on experience with Android system-level development, including AAOS or AOSP environments.
  • Solid understanding of Android services, Binder/AIDL communication, and system service lifecycles.
  • Experience developing or integrating Apple CarPlay projection technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of JNI and native debugging practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex Android system issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Familiarity with Apple CarPlay specifications and certification processes is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of CarPlay communication plugins and related validation processes.
  • Experience with FACET testing, ATS log analysis, and CarPlay audio certification test cases.
  • Understanding of automotive connectivity protocols such as Bluetooth, USB, and Wi-Fi is preferred.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
  • Experience completing at least one full CarPlay certification cycle is a plus.
