Staff/Principal Engineer

**This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff/Principal Engineer based in India.**

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to shape the technical direction of AI-powered B2B SaaS products while remaining hands-on with software development. In this role, you will influence architecture, engineering standards, and platform scalability across a growing portfolio of modern applications. Working closely with product leaders and cross-functional teams, you will drive technical excellence, improve delivery velocity, and establish best practices for high-performing engineering teams. You'll play a pivotal role in adopting AI technologies, strengthening cloud infrastructure, and mentoring engineers in a collaborative, remote-first environment where innovation and ownership are highly valued.

### Accountabilities

• Lead the technical architecture and long-term engineering strategy for modern backend platforms built with Node.js, TypeScript, and cloud-native technologies.
• Design, develop, review, and optimize production-ready code while balancing hands-on development with architectural leadership.
• Establish engineering best practices, including code quality standards, testing strategies, observability, incident management, and continuous improvement processes.
• Drive the adoption of AI-powered engineering workflows, including LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, automation, and productivity-enhancing developer tools.
• Oversee system scalability, reliability, infrastructure modernization, and cloud platform evolution in collaboration with DevOps teams.
• Partner closely with Product leaders to translate business goals into technical solutions, prioritize initiatives, and communicate architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers, guide technical decision-making, proactively address technical debt, and foster a culture of engineering excellence across distributed teams.

### **Requirements**

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant responsibility for architecture, technical leadership, and software delivery.
• Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, Express, distributed systems, API development, and backend performance optimization.
• Solid Python knowledge with experience supporting automation layers and cross-platform integrations.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams, driving architectural decisions, coordinating technical execution, and improving development processes.
• Hands-on experience designing scalable cloud-based applications and working with modern DevOps practices, containerization, Infrastructure as Code, and AWS environments.
• Familiarity with AI technologies such as LLM-powered applications, RAG pipelines, AI development tools, or intelligent automation is highly desirable.
• Experience with technologies such as Redis, BullMQ, PostgreSQL, Grafana, Loki, or similar observability and messaging platforms is a plus.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, remote engineering environments.
