Production Support Technician is an embedded member of the manufacturing team responsible for ensuring that all personnel across cleanroom suites and production areas have the materials, components, and supplies they need to execute manufacturing activities on schedule. This role is the critical link between the warehouse and the production floor — proactively anticipating demand, continuously stocking workstations, and eliminating material-related delays before they occur.
The primary measure of success for this position is uninterrupted production: schedules are met, stations are stocked, and no operator waits on materials. The technician is expected to know the production schedule intimately, communicate actively with manufacturing leads and supervisors, and take ownership of all material flow within the cleanroom environment.
### Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor production schedules and anticipate material needs across all active cleanroom suites — acting before shortages occur rather than responding after.
- Continuously stock and replenish workstations, production lines, and staging areas throughout each shift so that manufacturing personnel are never waiting on materials.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the manufacturing team and warehouse/materials management for all floor-level material needs.
- Communicate actively and regularly with manufacturing supervisors, leads, and operators to stay ahead of schedule changes, urgent material needs, and emerging gaps.
- Respond rapidly to unplanned material requests from the Manufacturing team and work to resolve material-driven schedule deviations with urgency and sound judgment.
- In collaboration with the Production Materials lead, issue raw materials, packaging components, and consumable supplies to production areas and cleanrooms in alignment with the manufacturing schedule.
- Verify materials against batch records and production documents prior to issuance to ensure accuracy and GMP compliance.
- Manage the timely reconciliation of materials returned from production — accurately restocking inventory or processing for discard per established SOPs.
- Perform material picking from the warehouse when required to support production continuity, though this is a secondary function of the role.
- Participate in cycle counts and physical inventory activities to maintain inventory accuracy and regulatory compliance as needed to support the Warehouse.
- Identify and escalate discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials promptly to prevent downstream production impact.
- Maintain accurate cGMP and GDP documentation for all material transactions, including chain of custody forms, issuance logs, and reconciliation records.
- Ensure documentation accuracy and timeliness; maintain good documentation practices on the manufacturing floor.
- Inspect incoming and staged materials for damage, labeling accuracy, expiration status, and any conditions that could compromise product quality or patient safety.
- Manage temperature-sensitive receipts (cold chain and frozen materials) with immediate priority per established procedures.
- Adhere strictly to cleanroom gowning requirements, contamination control protocols, and all applicable SOPs at all times.
- Properly manage hazardous materials and waste in accordance with safety and environmental protocols.
- Safely operate forklifts, powered pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material-handling equipment within approved areas when needed to support the Warehouse team.
- Operate and safely use ladders as required for material access and staging.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper operating condition of all assigned equipment; report maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist with loading and unloading of trucks, verification of incoming deliveries against purchase orders, and preparation of finished goods for outbound shipment as business needs require.
- - This function is performed on an as-needed basis and does not represent a primary responsibility of this role.
### Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment required; experience in a CDMO or Pharmaceutical setting strongly preferred.
- Experience with material flow, inventory management, and cleanroom operations preferred over traditional warehouse-only backgrounds.
- Regular, predictable, and reliable on-site attendance required.
### Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong sense of urgency and proactive mindset — anticipates needs rather than reacting to requests.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively alongside manufacturing operators, leads, supervisors, and quality personnel.
- Intermediate math skills sufficient to verify quantities, perform reconciliations, and manage inventory counts.
- Proficient in basic computer navigation and business systems including ERP/IMS platforms, MasterControl, ADP, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy while working at pace in a dynamic production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to follow SOPs with precision, document clearly, and complete records on time without exception.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and maintain composure under production pressure.
