Household Assistant – Nurse Aide in Training

Start your healthcare career with support, hands-on experience, and paid training toward becoming a CNA.

We’re seeking compassionate, dependable individuals who want to grow in long-term care. In this role, you’ll work as a Household Assistant while we help support your enrollment and progression through CNA training. Once certified, you’ll have the opportunity to transition into a Nurse Aide role.

About the Role

As a Household Assistant preparing to become a CNA, you will

  • Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas
  • Maintain safe and tidy dining spaces after meals
  • Stock supplies and support personalized resident care plans
  • Participate in resident activities and engagement
  • Provide supervision to ensure resident safety
  • Follow isolation and infection control procedures
  • Attend required trainings and household meetings
  • Maintain resident rights, confidentiality, and HIPAA standards
  • Work collaboratively with nursing staff and household team members

Physical Requirements

  • Stand/walk for most of the shift
  • Lift 35 lbs and assist with transfers up to 50 lbs
  • Bend, squat, and use proper body mechanics
  • Push/pull carts or wheelchairs
  • Use basic caregiving equipment (BP cuffs, thermometers, lifts, etc.)

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Successful background check per Wisconsin Caregiver Law
  • Valid driver’s license preferred (required if transporting residents)
  • Interest in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Experience in cleaning or resident care is helpful but not required
