About The Role

Summary The Physician Assistant (PA) provides high-quality, patient-centered medical care under the supervision of an attending physician. This role is responsible for evaluating patients, diagnosing conditions, developing and implementing treatment plans, and promoting continuity of care across the clinical setting. The PA works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This position is located at our San Felipe Primary Care Clinic at 6363 San Felipe Drive. Work Environment Clinical setting: ambulatory care clinic May involve standing, walking, and interacting directly with patients for extended periods No inpatient responsibilities Job Duties Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories and performing physical examinations Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions within scope of practice Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with supervising physicians Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with regulatory and institutional guidelines Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and preventive care Document all encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record Participate in quality improvement initiatives and care coordination efforts Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity and effectiveness of care Maintain compliance with all clinical protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements Interact with trainees rotating through the clinic Serve as a preceptor for Physician Assistant students when/as scheduled with responsibilities to include clinical supervision, teaching, and evaluation Minimum Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Active state licensure (or eligibility) as a Physician Assistant Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Advanced certifications may be required based on specialty) Preferred Qualifications Prior clinical experience in primary care or internal medicine Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills Experience with EMR systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment Motivated in professional development which may include teaching, scholarship, and/or service leadership Baylor College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer.
