Role overview The Accounts Manager will work closely with the Finance Manager and lead a team of 4–5 Associates to own end-to-end accounting, compliance, and financial control functions at iTeach Schools. While core systems are in place and integrated across functions (HR, finance, program operations), the organisation is at a stage where strong ownership, tighter controls, and improved closure discipline are required to support scale. This role is critical in ensuring that accounting, compliance, and audit readiness move from dependency-driven execution to structured, reliable systems. Key Responsibilities: 1. Accounting, Closure & Financial Control Own end-to-end accounting, reconciliations, and monthly/annual closure Ensure accurate, complete, and audit-ready books Maintain books in an audit-ready state at all times Drive strong closure discipline and zero unexplained open items 2. Compliance & Audit Management Ensure timely and accurate statutory compliance (FCRA, TDS, GST, PF, ESIC, Income Tax) Lead statutory, internal, and donor audits end-to-end Maintain continuous audit readiness and close queries efficiently 3. Payments, Payroll & Governance Review and approve payments, reimbursements, and payroll Ensure policy adherence, correct statutory deductions, and expense classification Strengthen financial controls and prevent errors/leakages 4. Budget Alignment & Financial Hygiene Ensure all transactions are correctly mapped to budgets and grants Flag overruns, misallocations, and risks proactively Maintain strong linkage between books and budget tracking 5. Systems, Processes & Team Leadership Strengthen SOPs, workflows, and internal controls Improve procurement-to-payment processes and overall financial hygiene Identify and fix process gaps and inefficiencies Manage and build capacity of a team of 4-5 associates Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and internal stakeholders. Prerequisites Semi-qualified CA (mandatory) 3+ years post-articleship experience in: Accounting Taxation Compliance Strong working knowledge of: TDS, GST, Income Tax PF, ESIC FCRA (preferred) Prior experience in: NGO / grant-based organisations (preferred) Skills and Competencies Strong ownership mindset High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to drive closure and accountability Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Good communication and stakeholder management Proficiency in Excel and Tally / ERP systems Location Pune (with periodic travel to Mumbai or other locations as required)
